‘Active Partnerships’ event aims to bring benefits to your business and community

Join Team Lincolnshire and partners from across the public, private and third sector to collaborate, consider and co-create opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities.

The ‘Active Partnerships: Driving community growth and economic prosperity’ event is being held at Butlin’s Skegness Resort on Tuesday 28th June from 9.30am until 3pm and aims to support greater economic productivity and prosperity for the region.

Featuring expert keynote presentations from captivating speakers representing business, industry and third sector stakeholders, this face to face, interactive event is being hosted by record-breaking England rugby legend and business performance consultant, Rory Underwood MBE DL.

Delegates will hear from Team Lincolnshire ambassador and Chief Executive Officer at Active Lincolnshire, Emma Tatlow, about how the charity works with partners to address inequalities and the challenge of inactivity across Lincolnshire.

Emma said: “Active Lincolnshire champions for the positive power that sport and physical activity have on the lives of people of all ages and abilities and we’re here to support more people to be more active, more often.

“Whilst tech and digital provides us some solutions, it is people that make this county what it is and bring the innovation, culture, personality and ingenuity to Lincolnshire.”

Fellow Team Lincolnshire ambassador Lydia Rusling, Assistant Director for Economic Growth at the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership, will also be speaking at the event, promoting the importance of putting the place at the heart of economic development.

Lydia added: “We’re looking forward to exploring what an innovative partnership of public, private and third sector could do to help our grass roots physical activity thrive, influence and shape policy and investment to support healthy lifestyles and ultimately how we can invest in our people, so we have a happy, healthy, productive workforce.”

During the day, the presentations and discussions will cover:

  • The significant investment being made to improve the health and wellbeing of the resident population in Mablethorpe and Skegness through the Towns Fund and Connected Coasts.
  • The systemic and cultural shift needed to ensure options to move more and live healthier lifestyles are available to everyone.
  • Insights into developing healthy spaces through the built environment.
  • How Team Lincolnshire members and local businesses have invested in the wellbeing of their own workforce and contributed to the wellbeing of neighbouring communities through their commitment to social value.

With 30% of the adult population of Lincolnshire being ‘inactive’, that is they move for less than 30 minutes a week, and evidence of the widening inequalities gap, now is the time for us to come together to understand how we can better support the people of Lincolnshire.

Rachel Edwards from Team Lincolnshire says the evidence is clear: “A more active nation is a more productive and prosperous one. To meet our shared local economic ambition a healthy workforce has to be central to this.”

Team Lincolnshire ambassador Shari Setayesh, Director at YMD Boon, will be sharing insights into developing healthy spaces through the built environment whilst Alex Saul, Resort Director at Butlin’s Skegness, will give an opening address, explaining what attracted him to Lincolnshire as a place to live and work after relocating to the region from Wales with his family.

There will also be displays showcasing health, wellbeing and support services in Greater Lincolnshire and opportunities to discuss ideas for future collaboration during informal networking over refreshments.

Guest host, Rory Underwood, will be compering the day’s programme as well as facilitating a breakout session for participants to get the most out of the day with topical discussions, and a Q&A session with the expert panel of speakers.
