Prime Minister announces workers in key industries to take daily tests

Around 100,000 critical workers are set to take daily Covid tests from 10th January in order to reduce the spread of the virus to colleagues, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said at a press conference today (4th January 2022).

It will be for key industries including food processing, transport and the border force, with more information to follow soon.

These lateral flow tests will be available on every working day, with testing kits sent to the organisations and the government liaising with eligible businesses directly.

As earlier announced by the government, from today, 4th January 2022, pupils are expected to wear a face mask in classroom settings.

Currently, the measures that are in place are known as “Plan B“, which will be continued some time yet, with a review of these measurements in the next weeks.

The Prime Minister has again urged all those who have not yet received their booster jab to get this as soon as possible.
