Antony joins Wright Vigar

Expanding accountancy firm Wright Vigar announced the appointment of tax specialist Antony Voakes.

Antony has joined the firm, which has a team of more than 100 people, as an Associate Director.

“I decided it was time for a new challenge, so I went along to Wright Vigar and stepped through its “red door” for a chat. I’m delighted to have joined a firm which I have long-admired,” he said.

Wright Vigar has offices in Lincoln, Gainsborough, Newark, Sleaford, Retford and London and Antony is based with its Sleaford team.

His wealth of experience covers business of all sizes and private individuals. Antony started his career as a trainee at the former PKF in Lincoln. Four years later, he moved to Manchester and worked for Baker Tilly (now RSM), then PwC, before returning to Lincolnshire.

“Wright Vigar is highly respected, has loyal clients and a real family ethos. It is known for recognising its employees’ individuality and I love the way it gives everyone three days “off” each year to support their favourite charity,” he said.

“I’m passionate about working closely with clients, particularly owner-managed and family firms, where you get to understand a firm’s DNA and talk to its key players.

“It is also a real privilege to work with business owners and directors facing big life changes, such as exiting a business or helping them to plan for a tax efficient succession be that family or management team.

Antony also advises companies on tax-efficient ways of incentivising their staff, by way of seasonal gifts, the use of a company car or employee share schemes.

He and his wife Amanda, who is Chattertons’ Head of Private Client Services, have two children – Isla (four) and Oscar (two) and a much-loved black Labrador, called Rosie. Antony also has a daughter Lucy (14) from a previous relationship.

Away from work, Antony keeps fit by going to the gym, running and playing squash. He also enjoys cooking curries and Italian dishes, complemented by a good wine, and relaxing over a glass of real ale.
