Enhancing Lincoln Through Creativity

Lincoln Creates invites artists and businesses to submit ideas for creative art projects to take place in the city during the Summer.

The projects could be installations, exhibitions, street decorations, performances and/or workshops. We are particularly keen to see collaboration between artists and businesses.

The funding for Lincoln Creates has been made possible with some of the funds raised from the public auction of the Lincoln Imps in October 2021. Lincoln Creates will be awarding grants ranging from £500 – £5,000 to help support project costs.

Sue Bell, Project Consultant, Lincoln Business Improvement Group (Lincoln BIG) said:

“We’re looking forward to seeing some exciting projects come forward on the relaunch of Lincoln Creates! This is a brilliant opportunity to revitalise the high street and bring the city centre alive with vibrant and creative artwork”.

Due to Covid-19, Lincoln Creates was put on pause in 2019 and is now being relaunched to bring new life into the city.

The mural underneath Wigford Way Bridge in Lincoln was an earlier project commissioned by Lincoln Creates. The eye-catching artwork stopped people in their tracks back in 2019. It was based on historical imagery from Lincoln’s heritage during 18th and 19th centuries – and linked to King William IV and his service in the Royal Navy.

Lincoln Creates awarded £2,870 to James Mayle from Imageskool and Luke St Clair-Pedroza to brighten up the area with their artwork.

Projects such as this are important not only for the city centre but also provides a brilliant opportunity for businesses and artists to get involved with Lincoln BIG’s city events and promote all that Lincoln has to offer.
