Read MoreOngo tenants have shared their delight after moving into eight much-needed bungalows on Bridges Road, Scunthorpe this month.
The homes are located opposite Ongo’s Trent View House and have regenerated an unused and rundown piece of land.
All have two-bedrooms and come with a private garden, wet room and are suitable for those living with mobility issues. They also include super-fast fibre, virgin media and video door bells as standard.
This development is part of Ongo’s larger plan to provide housing options for all. It means those who may struggle with stairs or need extra adaptations can live a much more comfortable life.
Sharon Tarmey, who moved into one of the bungalows said: “I’m delighted to be moving in, it’s going to be so much easier with me having a knee replacement soon. It has taken lots of stress away and will make a huge difference to my life.”
Another tenant, Graham Beasley, also commented: “We’ve moved from a house with stairs and a long garden, and it was just too much for us. We decided to make the move for health reasons and it’s the best decision we ever made.”
In recent years Ongo has delivered over 80 specialist homes for people living with physical and learning disabilities, along with a number of general needs bungalows.
Amy Schoenmaker, Development Project Manager at Ongo said: “With an aging population and a limited number of specialist housing out there, it’s always a proud moment for us to build more.
“This development has improved the whole look of the area, bringing a clean and safer feel, and we’re really pleased with the end result. Bungalows always go down well and these have been no different. However, we do have plans to build more in the future so do look out for those.”
The homes were built by TG Sowerby, with funding provided by Ongo and Homes England.
