Christmas Cheer for Local Traders

Lincolnshire businesses are being urged to apply online for a stall at this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market as the City of Lincoln Council continues with the hard work of planning the city’s premier event.

For the first time, the Christmas Market has a dedicated website, with information for visitors, residents and stallholders.  By applying online, businesses have the best opportunity to get a place at the 2009 Christmas Market, which will run from the evening of Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th December.

Prices for a stall for the four days of the market range from £675 to £985, with special discounts for Lincolnshire businesses.  A total of 320 stall places are available for the four-day event, which annually attracts over 150,000 visitors and brings around £10 million into the local economy.

This year’s market will build on the theme of tradition that proved popular with visitors to the 2008 event.  The Lincolnshire Larder at the Lawn will showcase the traditional county produce, while high quality gifts and crafts will be on sale in the Castle area.  Entertainment for all ages will be on show and one of the highlights of this year’s festival will be the traditional/grand opening at the Cathedral.

Responding to feedback from previous years’ Christmas Markets, the City of Lincoln Council, which organises the free event, made steps towards creating a more traditional market with an emphasis on quality goods.

Bryan Williams, Chair of the Chamber Committee for Tourism said: "We are working closely with the City of Lincoln Council to help support the event and we would urge local small businesses to consider booking a stall at what promises to be a wonderful and truly special Christmas Market for 2009."
