  1. Welcome and Introductions

All members introduced themselves and their businesses to one another.

Informed Select members that Rachel Garner will be taking over the management of Select Lincolnshire going forward. Gillian Richardson has moved into a marketing role within the Chamber therefore, Rachel will be the main point of contact for Select Lincolnshire members in the future. Rachel has a hospitality & catering background, managing hotels and restaurants in the past. Rachel is excited about taking on Select Lincolnshire as a project and looks forward to working closer with our members to develop and improve membership.

 

  1. Notes from last meeting

Some members request for minutes from the last meeting to be resent. RG will action this to those who requested.

 

  1. Events

Lincoln Castle, Christmas Emporium - Ellen Kelman

Ellen informed members about the Christmas Emporium at the Lincoln Castle from 15th December – 22nd December 2018. The Castle are looking for stall holders to take up a spot for the week. Ellen will look into the possibility of Select member receiving a discount on the cost of a stall. Lincolnshire Hospitality Conference – Sam Owen, Salted Orange Food Co.

Monday 30th July, 9am-12.30pm at The Showroom, Tritton Road.

The event is to invite food, drink & hospitality businesses to join together to exhibit and network in the same space. The idea is to connect businesses in the sector and inspire people to start their new business within the hospitality industry.

Select Lincolnshire are sponsors of the event.

Visit England Awards

Just to inform Select Lincolnshire members about the 2019 Visit England Awards. Details will be launched by July 2018 and we will inform members of further details when available. We want to encourage Select members to enter and will try to adapt the Select Lincolnshire awards to fit with Visit England so that the application process can be streamlined.

Lincolnshire Day, 1st October 2018

Rachel asked if any of our members are doing anything for Lincolnshire Day and if so we will help to support and promote their activities.

Sherry Forbes from Manor House Stables is doing a Baking Class/Workshop, teaching Lincolnshire recipes.

Jack Green from Dunholme Chillies is making a Lincolnshire Chilli Oil using local rape seed oil.

Claire from Lincolnshire Brewing Company are creating a display of Lincolnshire produce in their shop “The Crafty Bottle” on the Strait. Please let Claire know if anyone would like to display their products over this period. claire@lincolnshirebrewingco.co.uk

Supplier Event – Judy Lyons, Lincs Co-op & Angela Stuart, Ideal Lincs

Similar events to Sam’s but more of a meet the buyer style. Suggestion for September time and potentially being held at Stokes. Discussed would 5.30pm in the evening be best or potentially a breakfast event. When we have further information on the event itself, we will send out to Select members to arrange their involvement.

 

From Field to Fork – Caroline Gollin, Riseholme College

17th July 2018, 10.30am-2pm at the Epic Centre. Select Lincolnshire supporting this event. Approx 25 exhibitors, free to exhibit.

Careers fair for 14-16 year olds. Schools invited along to educate young people on the careers available within food & farming in Lincolnshire.

Select Lincolnshire Awards

Tuesday 9th October 2018, 7pm – Lincoln Minster School.

Select Lincolnshire have listened to feedback from members and are improving the application process for this year’s awards. Applications will be open from the end of June. We will send out an email informing members of this when available.

KM Media, Good Taste Lincolnshire Magazine – Katrina Burrill.

Next issue will be mid-September, 30,000 copies. Request for articles, recipes, new stories, adverts, advise pieces. Deadline for content is 14th August. 

Chamber Matters – August Edition

The theme of the August edition of Chamber Business Matters magazine is Food, Farming & Select Lincolnshire. The magazine is issued within the Business supplement of the Lincolnshire Echo and has a readership of 105,000 across the county.

Opportunities for advertising space starts at £80+vat.

Social Media

Just a reminder to tag us in any of your posts on social media. This way we will see it and retweet, re-post etc.

Also, the Select members closed facebook group only has 30 members in. Please search and invite yourself in, we will then approve, and you can utilise this to connect with other members.

We will start adding the minutes to the FB members group, easily readable and accessible for members.

Members discussed the idea of a social media session to train businesses how to take good quality pictures of their own. Rachel discussing with Amy Wallis, Market inn Hospitality and also Riseholme College.

Spotlight Table

At Commerce House, we have a table in the reception area which can be hired by businesses for a week for only £10. We call it our “Spotlight Table”. Businesses can leave flyers, roller banners and even products to sell. We have 15 businesses who are tenants in our building plus 2 meetings rooms that are booked out by external companies each week.   1. Lincolnshire Show and Food & Gift Fair

We will have a Select Lincolnshire stall in the food court. We will support any members who would like us to with social media etc.

Don’t forget your Select Lincolnshire branding for your stalls and don’t forget Select members receive a discount on the cost of a trade stand.

 

  1. C4G grant scheme and training workshops

Justin explained about our C4G grant scheme.

Justin discussed Lincolnshire Cook Books that we have at Select Lincs HQ. They are £8.50 to buy from us with a mark-up and RRP set at £15. If any members would like any cook books to stock in their stores/ on their websites etc. let us know and we can provide you with some.

 

Some members raised that they don’t think the right person within their business is receiving communications from Select Lincolnshire. If you think that this is the case with your business, please do let me know and I can easily update your contact details and communications preferences to ensure that you’re getting all of the right info from us.

 

  1. Future Dates and Venues.

Feedback from members was that the format of the forum is good. Members liked the idea of moving them around and visiting different businesses. Better communication needed on the website event listing to communicate that the format is meeting style.
