More jobs available thanks to the Kickstart scheme

Ongo are working with a number of local businesses to recruit new employees, with the help of the government funded Kickstart scheme.

The scheme provides funding to employers to create six month long placements for people between 16 and 24 years old and currently receiving Universal Credit. The government will fund each placement, paying them national minimum wage for 25 hours a week.

Currently they are recruiting for roles at companies including Ashbridge Roofing, The Blue Door, Tolsa, Grange Park, Fender Steel, HL Engineering, STJ Projects, Aid Plant, Two Sisters Food Group, Corrboard, Crest Roofing, Old Ferry Wharf and SPS Security.

Along with creating new opportunities within their own organisation, Ongo has pledged to support other local businesses too, by accessing funding, completing applications, advertising and recruiting. So far they’ve supported more than 35 individuals into new roles.

Amanda Barker, Kickstart Coordinator at Ongo said: “The Kickstart scheme is just brilliant and I can’t shout about it enough. Not only does it benefit businesses by employing staff for no cost to them, but it creates opportunities for young people to get into work, get vital skills and be paid too.

“We’re absolutely delighted with how successful it has been and cannot wait to continue offering fantastic placements and getting even more organisations signed up.

“If you’re a business or individual and are interested or have any questions, please get in touch with our team, we’d love to help.”

To find out more about the scheme visit www.gov.uk/kickstart, and to apply for any of the roles, contact your work coach at the Jobcentre or email amanda.barker@ongo.co.uk.

Or if you’re a local business and you think you could take on a placement, please get in touch with the team by emailing maryanne.fitzgerald@ongo.co.uk or amanda.barker@ongo.co.uk.
