Read MoreLincolnshire-based surfacing and civil engineering firm, Minster Group Ltd is to become part of Breedon Group, a leading vertically-integrated construction materials group in Great Britain and Ireland.
The acquisition will see Breedon Group (‘Breedon’) take a majority stake in Minster Group (‘Minster’), which includes civil engineers Minster Surfacing and Alliance Recycling.
The deal will enable Breedon to grow its presence in the East of England and beyond, while also expanding its recycling capabilities and supporting Minster’s future ambitions.
Following completion, Bruce Spencer-Knott, co-founder of Minster will remain in position as the firm’s Managing Director and the business will be a distinct brand within Breedon.
Commenting on the acquisition, Minster’s co-founder and Managing Director, Bruce Spencer-Knott said:
“After 24 years of growing Minster Group into one of the country’s leading independent contractors, it’s time to take things to the next level, securing its future as part of Breedon Group.
“I’m very excited about this acquisition, which will bring immediate benefits for the business and for our clients and road users. The immediate investment will allow us to add to our fleet of machinery to keep up with the demands of our clients. It also gives us long term security and sustainability, safeguarding jobs and protecting what the team and I have established while also helping us to scale up and grow. Breedon shares our commitment to smarter, greener surfacing and civil engineering so this deal will also help to take our commitment to innovation, technology and recycling to a whole new level.
“Building a business from the ground up is a huge undertaking and the team we have here is like a family. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved and that’s another reason why I’m so thrilled with this partnership; the Minster Group brand isn’t going anywhere and we now have a much stronger foundation on which to continue building. I couldn’t be happier.”
James Haluch, Managing Director of Breedon’s GB Surfacing Solutions business, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Minster Group to Breedon to further enhance the combined expertise of both businesses. Having worked with them for the past 16 years, it’s great to have the opportunity for us to grow our regional presence in the East of England and beyond, as well as expand our recycling capabilities.”
