Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Launches New Sustainability Tool to Support Local Businesses

The Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the University of Lincoln, is proud to announce the launch of a new sustainability performance tool, designed to help businesses integrate Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies into their operations.

Simon Beardsley, CEO of the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, commented: "At the Chamber, we recognise that sustainable practices are crucial for long-term business success. This tool offers our members practical support to meet environmental responsibilities while continuing to grow and innovate. We are proud to champion sustainability in our region and provide our businesses with the resources they need to seek a wider breath of opportunities.”

This initiative is part of an Innovate UK-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership aimed at translating sustainability theory into practical, real-world solutions for businesses across the region.

“Since its foundation, the University of Lincoln has served as a cornerstone of sustainable economic development within the city and county. Professor Simon Lilley, Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange at Lincoln International Business School, added: "This Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the Chamber of Commerce provides an invaluable set of tools and support services for its members to help them on their journey towards more sustainable operations and future prosperity. We are delighted to continue working together on this important agenda."

This new tool is now available to Lincolnshire Chamber members and offers businesses a practical, accessible resource to help navigate the increasing demands for responsible and sustainable business practices. Businesses can also join the Small Business Sustainability Mark accreditation scheme to signify they are taking the steps to be more sustainable.

Annabelle Sclater, Membership Sustainability Advisor spoke about the project ‘It has been really exciting to lead this project and consult with businesses on how we can create a sustainability service. I’d like to thank all the businesses and individuals who gave up their time to contribute to this. The Lincolnshire Chamber has also been working on its own sustainability performance so we can share our own experiences first hand’

Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce will also be arranging sustainability focused networking events and continuing to promote and support out members sustainable practices with our online sustainability hub.

"Sustainability is not merely an option; it is a necessity," said Dr Debadayita Raha, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Society at the University of Lincoln. "Consequently, businesses must implement ESG strategies to meet current economic demands and build a resilient future." Dr Raha emphasised the importance of this partnership, noting, "We hope that this collaboration will extend beyond the project, supporting businesses in enhancing their performance, protecting the environment, and making a positive social impact."

Businesses interested in exploring the tool and taking the next step in their sustainability journey can access it here.
