Kicking mental health stigma into touch: NEL Mind and Wilkin Chapman team up for charity football fun day

The leading law firm in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire has joined forces with local mental health charity, North East Lincolnshire Mind (NEL Mind) to host a football tournament and family fun day in Grimsby this July.

Wilkin Chapman, which is a platinum partner of NEL Mind, is the principal sponsor of the event on 16 July at the Bradley Football Development Centre in Grimsby.

Local businesses are being encouraged to support the event and bring their families along for a day of fun to help raise funds and awareness for the mental health charity.

“We teamed up with NEL Mind to host a charity football tournament in Grimsby for the first time last year and we wanted to go bigger and better this year, making it into a fun day that all the family can enjoy.

“We are delighted to be a platinum partner and principal sponsor of the event in July. One in four people have mental health problems and NEL Mind does absolutely fantastic work in raising awareness and providing much needed support.

“The conversation around mental health has improved in recent years, but there is still a lot of work to be done to help remove the stigma and ensure support is accessible to everyone who needs it. That’s why we were keen to partner with NEL Mind and support this event as much as possible.

“I would encourage all local businesses to get involved with the football tournament to help raise awareness and funds for such an important charity, all while enjoying what should be a fun day for everyone.”

The tournament has reached the capacity of teams entered, but local businesses are encouraged to provide stalls at the event and volunteer referees are also required. Additionally, there are a number of sponsorship opportunities available. The family fun day will include a number of games for all ages, a bouncy castle, face painting, small business stalls, cake sales and more. Food and drinks will be available throughout the day.
