TALK: Panel: Sustainable Construction in 2021 and Beyond

This talk is part of the Build for the Future: East Midlands event, which is FREE to attend!

Sustainable and green features in construction aren’t exactly new, but interest in eco-friendly or green buildings has grown significantly in recent years and we are seeing these new, sustainable, high-performing structures appear all over the world.

Why is this happening?

With COP26 on the horizon, consumers and businesses alike are recognising the impact of climate change and the grave importance it has on our environment.

This discussion, hosted by Chamber low carbon economy ambassador and MD of Amelio Solar Energy, Richard Jones, will be joined by a panel of experts from the public, private and education sectors, to discuss the roots of sustainable design, benefits and challenges compared to traditional design practices, as well as what’s happening now and any thoughts on sustainable construction beyond 2021.

Facilitator:

Richard Jones, Amelio Solar Energy

Panelists:
Lee Marshall, Viridis Building Services
Dr Rosi Fieldson, Senior Lecturer – School of Architecture and Design, University of Lincoln
Steve Kemp, Executive Director, Open Plan
Shaun Porter, Director BMS Division, Lindum Group

About the panel

Lee Marshall

As a Chartered Engineer and Net Zero expert, Lee’s 20 years of experience extends from design engineering to managing and operating M&E renewables design & installation businesses.

Before setting up Viridis, Lee enjoyed success in board-level positions with national and global companies and led many high-profile, multimillion-pound developments across the UK.

Lee’s experience across the design and installation sides of our industry gives him a wealth of experience to bring to any project. Whilst Lee’s experience extends across all sectors of the construction & energy industries; fundamental to Lee’s thinking is a Net Zero integrated fabric first design approach to minimise and eliminate building services & renewables.

Focusing on the environmental & nearly zero energy design of buildings allows Lee to develop and implement innovative low cost, low energy low carbon building services solutions for our Clients projects. Supported by a growing design and project engineering team Lee works to deliver our client’s objectives and aspirations for their projects cost efficiently & environmentally.
