Employment support project best in the region

Ongo Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project, which supports unemployed to get into work, has achieved the highest performance rate among 14 other partners across Yorkshire and Humber.

The project is funded by the European Social Fund and National Lottery Community Fund and offers one to one tailored support. The BBO team also work closely with other teams including North Lindsey College Adult Skills for training and qualifications and Ongo Talk for mental health support and counselling.

Reports have shown that our BBO project has achieved 89% of their performance target, meaning they’re first in the HLC’s (Humber Learning Consortium) league of performance, along with other contract providers.

Since the start of the year, 155 people have signed up to the project, with 32 now in employment and 38 in education.

A further 41 are currently looking for jobs and another five are currently taking part in voluntary projects.

Emma Howes-Richardson, Ongo Communities Team Leader said: “The team have worked extremely hard to ensure our participants are still engaged during lockdown, and have changed the way they work to suit them.

“We are so happy we’ve achieved such a high percentage, and now we can look at extending our service and support more people.”

The team have recently developed new ways to stay in touch including a BBO group Facebook page to share information, activities and encourage clients to develop their social interaction.

Do you know anyone that could benefit from the BBO project? If so ask them to get in touch with Ongo’s team on 01724 844848, or take a look here for more information.
