Celebrating our community champions

Last night Ongo joined North Lincolnshire Council and other local organisations to celebrate the amazing work local people are doing in our communities.

The 10th annual Community Champion Awards took place at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe, to recognise local heroes and their commitment to making our communities better places to live.

Over 250 people attended, enjoying a two course meal, entertainment from local groups and of course the award presentation of 15 awards including volunteers of the year, outstanding achievements and carer of the year awards.

We sponsored the ‘outstanding achievement to a safer and stronger community’ award which highlights work that people or groups are doing to make North Lincolnshire a safer place to live and gives people the opportunity to thrive.

One For the Lads were crowned winners of this award on the night, with Crosby Community Association as runners up.

Damion from One For the Lads collected the award: “Winning this award means everything to us as a group, and being here at this event will help more men hear about us and the support we can offer.

“Most importantly, we hope it helps men to continue to talk to one another.”

Claire Coyle our Transformation Manager presented One For the Lads with their award at the event: “These awards are a fantastic showcase of the amazing work happening in our communities every day, the difference these people and groups make is truly immeasurable.

“We love to get involved and support the awards to be part of an event to celebrate the brilliant people of North Lincolnshire and tonight has been another brilliant evening.”
