Over 200 people benefit from free Ongo summer events

Throughout summer Ongo held more than 30 free activities for families across the region to get involved in.

Along with funding their own events, the team were awarded a Fuelled fund of £7,357 to run even more at their community hubs. Most of these also included a free meal.

The Arc in Scunthorpe held 15 events, including Dramarama sessions, family games, crafts, pizza making, a construction workshop and noise academy.

The Viking Resource Centre in Barton upon Humber had a jam-packed timetable too, with a trip to East Park in Hull, decorate your own memory book, science mornings, a party, eco day and so much more.

A number of other events were also held, including community action days across Scunthorpe and Lincoln. As part of this, colleagues carried out weed clearing, litter picking, fence painting and other work, along with hosting fun activities to educate residents on being more environmentally friendly.

Victoria Bradshaw, Activities & Families Co-ordinator at The Arc said: “Being able to offer free events and meals is vital for local people.

“We do a huge amount of work throughout the year to improve neighbourhoods and engage with the communities we work in, so for me it’s been great to see people come together and build relationships.

“As autumn arrives we have lots more planned in from Halloween parties to crafts and more. We can’t wait to see lots of you there.”
