Trent Valley Academy Event

The Lincolnshire Chamber is always open to new ideas for various ways we are able to use our resources and expertise to help our members. We were approached by Trent Valley Academy in Gainsborough to host an event at the academy and we were delighted to be involved.

The event took place on the 28th of April between 4.00pm and 6.00pm, and was free for all delegates to attend. Delegates were able to enjoy light refreshments along with networking opportunities before a short presentation from Mr. John Cawdell, Director of Business and Resources from Trent Valley Academy. The short presentation covered various areas relating to the school and gave delegates a good understanding of the Academy and how it is working towards building better links with the business community. Delegates were then taken on a guided tour and given the opportunity to ask questions throughout.

We were delighted with the feedback for the event and are now looking at further opportunities to develop links between the business community and its local schools. John had the following to say, “We were delighted to host such a large group of Chamber members on a visit to Trent Valley Academy. Our mission is to raise educational standards and engage the local community. Key to this is the involvement with local businesses. Guests told me how much they enjoyed the tour and how they were impressed with the facilities and dedication of our staff.”

Delegate, Mike Johnson, Group Training Manager for the Gelder Group commented, “This was the first Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce event I have attended. We take pupils on work experience from the Trent Valley Academy and I hear a lot about the facilities there so I was very interested to see these for myself. The tour was very interesting, in fact it was an eye opener to see what fantastic facilities are available at the academy and how these are facilities are shared by the local community. Furthermore, the event also gave me a business opportunity to network with other Chamber members. I certainly will be attending other events and would urge anyone with an interest in becoming a member to make that first step.”
