Read MoreThey say a crisis brings out the best in some and two family-businesses with over 226 years of experience between them are proving this. Stokes Tea and Coffee and Pepperdine’s Butchers are teaming up to get essentials through to the people that need them through the ongoing Corona virus crisis.
Each of these local businesses has witnessed their fair share of challenging times. From world wars to economic crashes, the companies have survived events by putting people first, and looking after their teams, communities and customers has always been a top priority for these two, especially in times of trouble.
The families are working together to supply survival packs with everything needed to make being shut-in a bit more comfortable. Coffee, tea, plum loaf, pasties, pies, eggs, bacon, sausages, meat joints, pickles and preserves are just a few of the many items being delivered across the area.
Jon Willows at Pepperdine’s Butchers said: “We are delivering essential supplies all around Lincoln, and surrounding villages, even as far as Market Rasen.
“Vulnerable people are prioritized to make sure supplies get through to them. Nearly all of our products are locally sourced and teaming up with Stokes means we can get more of the best products to people that need them most.”
Nick Peel is the fourth Generation in the Stokes Family business and now heads up the company. He said: “We’re working hard to get everyone’s favourite tea and coffee delivered to their door.
“We have our online shop and phone ordering system, and, supplying local businesses like Pepperdine’s Butchers means we can reach even more customers who can’t get out of the house.
A comforting meal and favourite cuppa really can make all the difference to those who are feeling isolated and trapped, and, buying from local suppliers will help ensure we all have what we need on our doorsteps in the future too.
