Nearly £8m already distributed to South Holland businesses for Covid-19 support

South Holland District Council has distributed nearly £8 million worth of grants to businesses in the District so far, as part of a package of support in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The grants are being administered for local businesses by the Council as part of the Government’s response to Coronavirus. Around 1,100 applications have currently been made for the funding, with 770 having already been processed and received payment where eligible, with the Council’s Finance, Business Rates and Economic Development teams continuing to work through applications as quickly as possible.

Despite this high number of applications, the Council still believes there are around 600 eligible businesses who are yet to submit an online form, which would give them the opportunity to claim either a £10,000 or £25,000 grant, depending on their eligibility.

Business owners are asked to fill in the online forms as comprehensively and accurately as they can, so the Council can make the relevant checks and issue the relief as quickly as possible. All grants will be paid as soon as possible and any business that have already applied are reminded they do not need to contact the Council to ask when their payments will be made.

Councillor Peter Coupland, South Holland District Council portfolio holder for finance, said:

“I am really pleased and proud to see the SHDC team, along with our partners from PSPS, pulling out all the stops to get this money out and into the bank accounts of businesses and soon as they possible can, with almost 70% fully processed and more completed every hour.

“The team are working round the clock to process these applications and ensure all the District’s businesses get the support they need during this difficult period.

“Every application has to be verified and checked before being signed off, but please bear with the team as they work through them.

“Distribution of these grants, along with the rate relief scheme, are vital to ensure the strength of our District’s businesses and economy.

If you haven’t applied yet but think you may be eligible, please check the Council website as soon as possible and make sure you access this opportunity.”

To check eligibility and apply for the grants, businesses should visit the Council’s website: https://www.sholland.gov.uk/covidsupport.

The form is quick and easy to complete, collecting only the basic data needed to verify ratepayers and authorise the transfer of grant funding. All fields should be completed where possible, as this makes it quicker and easier for the team to process.

The South Holland District Council website is the only place that grant and relief forms can be completed, and any third party websites or links not associated with the Council will not be able to access the grants and may be fraudulent.

Please bear in mind that the Council will never send you information via personal social media accounts, will only ever direct you to our own website to submit details and that you should only fill out forms that are clearly from SHDC, not any other source. If in doubt, don’t fill it out, and contact the Council as soon as possible to check.
