RW Landscaping earns Lincolnshire Chamber’s Small Sustainability Mark

RW Landscaping, a local grounds maintenance and tree surgery business, is proving that sustainability isn’t just for large corporations. By making manageable and impactful changes, the business is becoming a shining example of how small businesses can improve their environmental and social performance.

Business owner Rhys began his sustainability journey by completing the Chamber’s Sustainability Performance Tool, helping him understand his current position and define clear goals for the future. Since then, he has been working closely with the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce to put in place practical and achievable plans to enhance the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) credentials.

Tackling Waste: Zero to Landfill

One of RW Landscaping’s most impressive initiatives is its zero-waste approach to green waste. Grass clippings, branches, leaves, and other organic materials are no longer destined for landfill. Instead, all green waste is repurposed into biomass to generate renewable energy, compost to enrich soil health, and kindling to reduce pressure on forest resources.

This approach not only minimises environmental impact but also supports a circular economy, turning waste into valuable resources.

Cleaner, Quieter Equipment

Recognising the impact of fuel emissions, RW Landscaping has invested in cleaner technology—transitioning from petrol and diesel-powered equipment to electric and low-emission alternatives. This shift is lowering the company’s carbon footprint and creating a safer, quieter, and healthier work environment for the team.

Supporting People and Communities

Sustainability for RW Landscaping also means supporting people. The company has introduced mental health training for staff and is committed to creating a positive workplace culture.

Beyond the business, RW Landscaping gives back through The Orchard—a community-focused organic project that donates fresh fruit and vegetables to local residents. The company also contributes to a range of other charitable initiatives throughout the year.

Recognition Earned

RW Landscaping’s dedication to progress and positive change has recently been recognised with accreditation through the Lincolnshire Chamber’s Small Sustainability Mark, acknowledging businesses that take practical steps toward becoming more sustainable.

Rhys and his team prove that no matter the size of your business, meaningful change is possible with real benefits for the environment, staff, and community.
