Ringrose Law significantly reduce their carbon footprint over last 12 months

At the start of 2020 Ringrose Law pledged to take positive steps towards reducing their carbon footprint.

Within the pledge they launched a paperlite initiative across the firm to reduce the amount of paper printed every day. The firm has made huge steps in the last 18 months in reducing their carbon footprint.

In 2019 the firm produced 31,852.5 kg of CO2 from printing alone, equating to 300 trees used. In 2020 the firm produced 14,305.4 kg of CO2 from printing paper, equating to just 135 trees. This is a reduction of 55% CO2 consumed in printing alone.

The firm has also seen a massive reduction in inter office travel by staff, reducing mileage by 68% in 2020 compared to 2019, with staff travelling nearly 100,000 miles less in 2020 between offices and for client meetings, court attendances etc.

These initiatives have been accelerated by the COVID pandemic but now they are in place the firm are keen to continue with these green commitments and cost savings.

John Knight, Senior Director of Ringrose Law is delighted with efforts staff have made to reduce the firm’s carbon footprint;

“Our firm is committed to developing technology and in turn reducing our carbon footprint. The reductions we made last year were extremely pleasing to see and we hope to continue to improve this year on year going forward.

“We continue to deliver the same service to our clients and have adapted our working ways to do this. We have taken many positives away from the last 12 months and can see now how these changes will positively impact our business for many years to come.”

The changes in technology in the firm allow for flexible working practices with staff having the ability to meet virtually rather than face to face. Not only has this improved working practices within the firm but also allowed the firm to service clients quicker and more efficiently with online and video calls.

The firm also launched their client portal ‘My Case’ last year, allowing clients to access documents directly online and sign and return documents securely without having to rely on printing and postage.
