PHE latest update on the 2019-nCoV Wuhan Coronavirus

Public Health England has published a Q&A blog regarding the Wuhan Coronavirus. The blog has been updated to reflect updated advice for those who have travelled to Wuhan in the past 14 days.

There are not yet any cases of 2019-nCoV Wuhan Coronavirus in the UK, but enhanced measures have been put in place for direct flights into Heathrow from China, and as of 29.01.20 from Gatwick and Manchester, to continue to advise travellers. The UK has updated its travel advice to advise only essential travel to Wuhan. The Foreign Office are leading plans for the repatriation of British nationals from Wuhan.

Some patients in England have tested positive for coronavirus. Chief Medical Officer for England, Professor Chris Whitty, has shared a statement. If more cases are confirmed in the UK, it will be announced as soon as possible by the Chief Medical Officer of the affected country.

PHE has produced posters for use in universities and other appropriate community settings to reflect the updated advice to the public. These will continue to be updated as necessary in line with any updates in our advice. PHE communications teams are liaising with Universities UK and Local Authority communications teams to ask for support in ensuring they are displayed in any appropriate community settings;  please consult with your communications teams before sending these on. NHS England and Improvement are developing information resources for healthcare settings.

Any change to public health advice will be published here first.
