Read MoreOngo has been shortlisted in the Housing Heroes awards for its approach to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
The Housing Heroes awards are well recognised in the social housing industry and being shortlisted is a massive achievement.
Shortlisted in the ‘Equality, diversity and inclusion team of the year’ category, Ongo has been recognised for the way EDI is positively embedded and embraced throughout the organisation with staff, involved tenants, Board members and contractors.
Ongo was shortlisted for the steps they have taken to ensure fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement (FREDIE) embedded in everything they do. Specifically, the mandatory staff training around workplace culture and behaviours was put in place following some in-depth analysis by the group of a staff survey.
Recognising the people that make housing great is the core purpose of the Housing Heroes Awards, and they hold an annual event to highlight the great work going on by housing associations across the country.
Erica Sanderson, Policy Manager and EDI Policy Lead for Ongo, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in these awards. We know what a big deal it is to be recognised at this industry event and we’re among such great company.
“There’s so much amazing work going on in the housing sector, and now more than ever it is brilliant to be able to really showcase this through these awards.
Karen Cowan, Head of Corporate Services and Ongo EDI Lead said “Equality, diversity and inclusion is incredibly important for us here at Ongo. We truly believe that everyone deserves, and should be treated fairly so to be shortlisted alongside other brilliant housing organisations for the way we’ve approached this is just fantastic.
“Our diversity Steering group really does make a difference and so pleased for the group to get the recognition it deserved.”
