Ongo celebrates funding boost to improve heat networks for tenants

Ongo is proud to announce it has been awarded funding as part of the £7 million distributed in Round 8 of the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES), aimed at improving district and communal heating systems across England and Wales.   This vital funding will support upgrades to existing heat network infrastructure, helping deliver cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable heating to tenants.   The scheme, delivered by Gemserv on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, is now in its third year and continues to make a significant impact on low-income households and public sector buildings.   Heating systems that serve 367 tenants at Market Hill in Scunthorpe, Wold Court in Brigg and Victoria House in Barton-upon-Humber will be surveyed to understand their efficiency and inform Ongo’s future investment plans.   This further demonstrates their proactive approach to communal heating, ahead of the upcoming Heat Network Regulations, which are set to be implemented over the next two years.   John Hughes, Head of Assets and Sustainability at Ongo, said: “Receiving this funding is a huge win for our tenants. It will enable us to better plan upgrades on communal heating systems, improving energy efficiency, and ultimately reducing costs for tenants.   “This support will make a real difference to the quality of life for many families and individuals who rely on communal heating. We’re excited to be part of a national effort to modernise infrastructure.”   Round 8 of HNES will benefit over 11,300 residents across 49 projects, with capital works expected to save 48,500 tonnes of carbon annually.
