Campaign to protect Lincolnshire’s Local Heritage Seeks Your Help

Heritage Lincolnshire are pleased to announce the extension of the Lincolnshire Local Listing Campaign’s website through to March 31st 2023.

Thanks to project partner Lincolnshire County Council, the future of the website has been secured, allowing communities who are curating a list of important local heritage sites, and those that still wish to do so, time to put forward their nominations.

Across the county local communities have so far nominated over four hundred and forty candidates to be put forward for Local Listing via the website ranging from historic dry-stone walls in South Kesteven to a country house in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Local Lists, as well as public parks and country house parklands.

Nominations will be collated and sent on to Local or Unitary Planning Authorities to be assessed for inclusion on their Local List of Heritage Assets, with inclusion ensuring those sites will be a material consideration in planning policy. Those that do not merit inclusion will still enrich our understanding of Lincolnshire’s fantastic local heritage through a record on the county Historic Environment Record.

Project Officer for Heritage Lincolnshire, Felix Mayle who leads the project said “The extension to the lifecycle of the website is fantastic news for the project, the reception from local communities has been positive, many have a desire to better protect their local heritage with the Local Listing Campaign being a way for them to have their say on what is important through the website.”
