Lignarius deliver bespoke unit for Sleaford’s historic Cogglesford Watermill

Sleaford-based Lignarius is a family run joinery business that provides bespoke joinery products and services to customers in Lincolnshire and beyond.

Usually their work involves designing, manufacturing, and installing bespoke products in a residential or commercial capacity.

But recently Lignarius, along with other potential suppliers, were contacted by North Kesteven District Council and presented with the interesting challenge of creating and fitting a custom-made oven housing unit for Sleaford’s picturesque Cogglesford Watermill.

The fully restored working watermill is thought to be the only Sheriff’s Watermill still operating in England and Millers have produced flour on this site for over a thousand years.

An integral part of the brief was that the oven unit be in keeping with the look and feel of the historic mill.

Lignarius were thrilled to be chosen by the Council as the supplier they felt would best meet the brief and set to work coming up with a design. Their chosen material was oak, as the craftsmen at the business felt that would match beautifully with Cogglesford Watermill’s aesthetic appeal.

The finished design included both open and cupboard storage as well as a removable oak, back plate to allow easy access to power cables.

The experts’ design even incorporated an oak pelmet with engraved lettering to add a little flare.

The team at Lignarius are very proud that their work is on display at such a special Lincolnshire landmark.

When Cogglesford Watermill re-opens later this month, why not pop along and take a look, and maybe pick up some lovely, fresh bread as well!
