Lincolnshire-based construction firm Gelder Group has announced the successful completion of its Vision 2017, which was launched by Princess Royal in 2014.
Vision 2017 was the firm’s three-year mission to deliver 20 business and community-related goals that would further strengthen the award-winning company’s credentials as an investor in people, particularly the next generation, having a happy and satisfied workforce and being an active and positive force in the local community and its environment.
The 20 goals included steps to help bridge the industry skills gap with a thriving apprenticeship programme and training academy, supporting over 50 apprentices, and continuing to deliver an unparalleled working environment for staff. In addition, the firm has appointed over 240 sub-contractors as part of its Safe Partner Scheme, and operated a well-established community fund, donating over £20,615 to local charities.
As part of Vision 2017, Gelder Group also opened its Environmental Park, which sits directly behind its HQ and features a lake, owl boxes, and bee hives housing over 400,000 bees. The park, which is managed by the firm’s environmental officer, is one of the many initiatives Gelder Group has implemented to support the local environment.
HRH the Princess Royal visited Gelder Group’s HQ in Sturton by Stow in 2014 to launch its 2017 Vision as well as open the firm’s training facility; Gelder Educational Centre.
Chief executive, Steve Gelder, said: “The launch of Vision 2017 by Princess Royal three years ago was a massive milestone in the company’s history.
“The purpose of launching Vision 2017 was to set ambitious targets to make the company the best it could be and to cement our reputation as a leader in our field, both regionally and nationally.
“We are known in the industry for the opportunities we give young people and we wanted to take that to the next level as well as many other goals that really set us apart for our commitment to both business growth and corporate social responsibility targets.
“Vision 2017 has been a huge part of our working lives for the last three years and it has been challenging to meet some of the targets, but nothing ever worth having comes easy and I’m so proud of the whole Gelder Group team who have worked together to reach this point.
“Not one to rest on our laurels, in early 2018 we will be launching Vision 2020. More of that to come. In the meantime, I’d like to thank every member of the team at Gelder Group for playing their part in delivering Vision 2017.”
Gelder Group works with Lincoln-based Human Alchemy; a firm that supports business leadership teams and individuals with business transformation. They will once again be working with the Human Alchemy team on Vision 2020.
Paul Barron from Human Alchemy, said: “It has been a privilege to work with the Gelder Group and help them on its transformational journey. There were many times that the challenge of striving to achieve 20 stretching goals tested the resilience of the organisation, but it was great to see the level of commitment that has resulted in it being recognised as Lincolnshire’s fastest growing company.
“Its 2020 vision will position them as an absolute leader in the products and services they will offer, and we are proud to be associated with the team’s ambition.”
The Gelder Group has grown its team from a two-man building outfit to just under 300 employees in the last 29 years. It delivers construction projects across a range of sectors including education, health, retail, insurance, leisure, heritage and residential.
