How Ongo’s new training is helping to meet local job demand and get more people into work

Ongo has expanded its training offer, getting more people into work than ever before with practical, hands‑on courses shaped by local demand, employer needs, skills shortages and genuine career prospects.

Since April 2025, 461 clients have completed training. This is 348 above their target, includes 197 of their tenants and is the highest number the team has supported to date.

As a direct result of completing their accredited, industry-based training, 61 clients have successfully gained employment

A key example of this new direction is the recently launched seven‑day Ashbridge Roofing Bootcamp in Grimsby.

Designed in partnership with the team, it prepares participants for trainee roofer roles available at the end, and provides essential industry qualifications including a CSCS card, Health and Safety, CISRS Operative Scheme, Asbestos Awareness, COSHH, Level 2 First Aid, and Site Safety.

To strengthen practical experience, trainees also complete an entry‑level scaffolding course at CATCH in Stallingborough and take part in mock interviews before formal ones take place.

This clear pathway from training to employment demonstrates Ongo’s focus on ensuring courses are not just informative, but lead to real, sustainable jobs.

Pete Tedde, Employment Support and Life Coach Lead at Ongo said: “It’s fantastic to see someone walk through our doors who are out of work or at a difficult point in their life, to then watch them grow in confidence, get new skills and into a job at the end. It’s a life changer.

“Working closely with local businesses is a huge part of that. Understanding what roles, they need to fill and what skills they’re looking for means we can tailor our training and provide them with strong, suitable candidates. It’s also great to see more Ongo tenants than ever coming through our programmes and into work.

“If you’re out of work, or if you’re a business that’s in need or more staff, please get in touch with us to see how we can help.”

Throughout 2026 Ongo has plans to offer even more practical and industry‑relevant training including more CSCS, Security industry, Forklift, and Roller/Dumper qualifications — all areas where local demand is growing.
