Growth In UCAS Applications To Lincoln Bishop University Exceeds UK Average By Over 8 Times

Lincoln Bishop University is delighted to share that applications to study at the University have increased by 23% – over 8 times the UK average.

UCAS data published earlier this week showed an average increase of 3% in applications to study at UK universities in 2026, reflecting a slight increase in the 18-year-old population. These results come after the UCAS Equal Consideration deadline closed on 14th January 2026 – when around 80% of applications have normally come in.

Professor Andrew Gower, Lincoln Bishop Vice Chancellor and CEO, said: “It’s fantastic that applications to study with us are up so much. Our new name, a bold 2030 Strategy and a range of national awards has really put Lincoln Bishop University on the map. We look forward to working with partners and stakeholders across the region and beyond as we grow. We continue to welcome new applications throughout 2026.

“Higher Education is life changing, and we are proud to rank consistently at the top of UK University league tables for the quality of our teaching and student support.”

In July 2025, Lincoln Bishop University ranked first in four of seven categories in the National Student Survey (NSS), including 1st in the UK for Teaching Quality according to The Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2026. The NSS is a major, annual national survey of final year students and is the recognised UK benchmark on the student experience.

Lincoln Bishop was also crowned University of the Year for Student Support by the Daily Mail University Guide 2026 and 1st for Halls and Student Accommodation at the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2025.

In September 2025 the University opened a new chapter in its history, when it publicly changed name to Lincoln Bishop University. This reflected the institution’s 160-year heritage and location in the heart of the City of Lincoln, the UK’s most affordable city for students (NatWest Student Living Index 2025).

It’s not too late – the University continues to welcome UCAS applications for September 2026, alongside teacher training and postgraduate courses.
