Since opening its doors in 2021, Myos House has become a beacon of care, comfort, and community in North Lincolnshire and is home to 27 residents.
To mark this special occasion, Ongo hosted a celebration for residents, colleagues, families, and key partners. The event featured fun garden games like hook-a-duck, a visit from the children of Little Goslings Nursery live performances from Starlight Arts, a group set up to provide disabled adults with music therapy, drama, dance, life and social skills.
Guests also enjoyed refreshments and cake, whilst reflecting on memories made so far.
A highlight of the day was the creation of a time capsule, filled with cherished memories from residents and colleagues, along with keepsakes that capture the spirit of Myos House.
This was be sealed with the intention of being opened at the 10-year anniversary, offering a beautiful way to reflect on the journey ahead.
Over the past four years, Myos House has made a profound difference in the lives of its residents. The building was designed with dementia-friendly features that promote independence, safety, and dignity. But it’s the people – residents, families, Ongo colleagues, and care team from North Lincolnshire Council who have truly brought it to life.
Susan, a resident at Myos House commented: “I feel happy safe and secure living here. It’s nearer to activities I attend and is on a good bus route. The staff here are amazing too, nothing is too much trouble. Events like the birthday celebration are just brilliant.”
Shirley who also lives at Myos House said: “What a wonderful day we’ve had today. It’s lovely to come together and celebrate. It has made me smile to see so many happy faces, especially the children.”
“The care and dedication shown by our colleagues and partners has created more than just a place to live, it’s a thriving, supportive community with the most incredible people,” said Anita Catley, Dementia Scheme Officer at Ongo. “We’re incredibly proud of the difference Myos House has made and continues to make every day, and we’re pleased we could celebrate this at the party.”
Ongo extends heartfelt thanks to the residents and families of Myos House, and North Lincolnshire Council for their continued partnership and the exceptional care they provide. Together, they’ve built a place where people living with dementia can feel safe, valued, and at home.
Mary Favill, Team Manager in North Lincolnshire Council’s Adult and Community Wellbeing Services commented: “It’s a privilege to support those living with dementia. To see that we are making a difference, enabling them to live well and maintain their independence is so rewarding.
“We feel honoured that we were able to participate in the birthday celebrations of Myos House.”
