The University of Lincoln is delighted to be hosting this event with Dr Coltan Scrivner as part of our Public Lecture Series.
Philosophers and scientists have long been puzzled by the human fascination with the macabre. Why is it that we seek out stories of terrible monsters, evil ghosts, and murderous men? In this lecture, Dr. Coltan Scrivner will explore how the evolutionary trajectory of our species modified our psychology in ways that led to a fascination with evil men and the subsequent popularity of true crime.
Coltan Scrivner is an author and behavioural scientist at the Recreational Fear Lab at Aarhus University. He is a leading expert on the psychology of morbid curiosity and our fascination with true crime and horror.
This activity counts towards your Lincoln Award.
