CITB and Abbey Access Training present a programme to help improve your progression into working in the Construction Industry
Individuals will be required to attend:
– Stage 1 – 12 days to gain their CSCS Card, Asbestos Awareness, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety Certificates and Employability Skills
– Stage 2 – 4 weeks of Practical Skills that may include Joinery, Plastering, Bricklaying, Groundworks
– The 2 stages will then be followed by a Construction related Work Experience Placement for 4 weeks with a local employer.
The programme will provide support to progress onto Apprenticeships, Employment or Further Learning. Support with Travel and PPE will also be available.
The course is open to:
– Any 16 – 24 year olds
– Any age if Long Term unemployed (over 12 months)

Stage 1
Day 1 – Induction and enrolment
Day 2 – CV Lesson and update of CV’s, Job Search
Day 3 – Covering Letter lesson and update/production of a Cover letter
Day 4 – Reviews/ target settings/ Individual Learning Plan (ILP)/Skills Work Star/Job Search
Day 5 – Application Form lesson and Job Search
Day 6 – Asbestos Awareness and Job Search
Day 7 – Manual Handling and Job Search
Day 8 – Fire Safety and Job Search
Day 9 – Site Safety Awareness Course
Day 10 – First Aid Training
Day 11 – CSCS Test and Intensive Job Search
Day 12 – Consolidation/final Reviews/Concentrated Job Search
Stage 2
Practical Skills training for 4 weeks:
– 2 weeks at Lindum Construction undertaking Groundworks and Bricklaying skills training
– 1 week at Hill Holt Wood undertaking Joinery training
– 1 week at The Keyworth Centre undertaking Plastering Training
Followed by the opportunity to undertake a Work Experience Placement for 4 weeks.
Followed by support to progress onto an Apprenticeship, Into Employment or Further Learning.
