Alexis believes the best way to approach mental health is in a pragmatic, educational, and engaging way, implementing a psychology-first framework in business.

Organisational development and culture change programmes, such as Fortis’ TRIBE for Business and for Schools and 7 Steps to Embedding Your Wellbeing Strategy, incorporate interventions, training, mediation, reflective practice, and coaching to create environments that are productive, effective, and successful.

Throughout her 25 years as a director and leader in business, Alexis has developed a reputation for being innovative, progressive, and collaborative in her way of thinking. A professional speaker for mental health, Alexis has delivered talks at conferences for businesses, HR networks, law firms, schools, emergency services, and the Ministry of Defence.

In December 2018, she gave her TEDx talk at Lincoln’s TEDxBrayfordPoolWomen event. You can watch here inspiring ‘Why Hide the Repair’ TEDx Talk here.

Back in 2015 Fortis won its first award, Best Small Business at the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards and in January 2019 Alexis took part in a prestigious roundtable discussion with IOSH magazine.

That same year Fortis won more awards – The Best Service-Based Business Award at the National Business Excellence Forums & Awards, and the At Your Service Award and Overall Small Business of the Year Award at The Small Awards in London. This year (2020) Alexis has been listed in the top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in the UK.

In addition to these accolades, Alexis has also been working on a podcast series with Oscar Kilo UK – the National Police Wellbeing Service, and Humberside Police, entitled – Keeping the Peace. The first series includes five episodes as well as an introductory episode from Alexis. Designed to highlight the day-to-day issues those on the frontline of the Force face, each episode has a different focus, from working from home and managing change to bereavement, stress and cancer, told through the stories of those working in the Police Force today.

Alexis has also developed an effective and engaging mental wellbeing training and supported the strategy of Humberside Police Protecting Vulnerable People Unit to help DCI Peter Thorp address and sustain the mental health of his team.

Through Fortis, Alexis and her team, have also just launched The Westerly Club – a men’s mental health community initiative. Entirely not for profit, this community currently runs as an online group where men can find support, advice and a friendly shoulder to ‘lean on’. With numbers now in their hundreds, the group is going from strength-to-strength thanks to the exposure its group of Ambassadors are delivering. High profile faces known locally, and nationally, the seven core ambassadors have just welcomed a new member – Grimsby Town FC manager, Ian Holloway.

Alexis is a regular on BBC radio, Sky news and a presenter, panellist and host on webinars, podcasts and events delivered in collaboration with local and national businesses and is a judge for The Small Awards.
