Agriculture expert warns that 10% of farmers could retire this month amid fears of tax rises and subsidy cuts
Read MoreLeading sustainable energy provider British Power Group has confirmed it will be providing and installing 100Kw of solar power at the Big Sheep Farm and Theme Park in Devon this summer.
The directorship at The Big Sheep has been looking at ways in which its popular family attraction can improve carbon footprint as part of its wider existing and future sustainability plans. The site has the space and infrastructure to support the introduction of solar power, making the installation of solar panels a viable, cost-effective and planet-friendly proposition for 2022 and cementing the park’s pledge to be one of the greenest of its kind in the country.
British Power Group supplies fully funded solar PV installation and monitoring agreements across the UK at zero capital cost and enjoys a solid reputation for delivery and service.
The latest agreement with The Big Sheep Farm and Theme Park will see British Power Group’s engineers instal 100kW of solar across 221 x 455w solar panels at the site in June 2022, which will significantly reduce emissions by around 25 tonnes per annum and around 500 tonnes over the next 20 years. In addition to the CO2 savings it will also provide The Big Sheep with huge financial savings.
The agreement with The Big Sheep will also include a monitoring system whereby schoolchildren and visitors to the site will be able to see the savings live in the reception area as a key educational feature. It is hoped this will also help drive awareness into greener technology and its many tangible benefits.
Steven Cullum, Director of British Power Group said: “This is an exciting time for British Power Group as we are busier than even with our solar PV installation and are seeing requests from across the country from businesses who are realising the multi-faceted benefits of going solar.
“We are thrilled to be working with The Big Sheep. It’s a terrific site that lends itself perfectly to benefiting from solar energy and, having discussed their wider greener plans, it makes perfect sense for them to embrace this technology. It is also great that in addition to the clear CO2 and cost savings they will make, the team at The Big Sheep are going to include their solar energy as an educational feature, which we applaud them for.
“We hope to have the solar panels installed in June so that they can benefit from the sunshine already this summer…”
Rick Turner, Director of the Flock (The Big Sheep), Chair of SW Tourism Alliance and Director of Visit Devon and North Devon Marketing, said: “We operate here in the south west in one of the sunniest parts of the UK and as a business committed to working with nature and protecting our environment, I am delighted to be installing a major solar array to power the park in the summer.
“I have always been nervous about installing solar and despite looking at this for the past 10 years it has taken my meeting the British Power Group team, who I feel I can trust, to now commit to this exciting new project.
“I very much look forward to working with Steve and his team. We will be one of the greenest theme parks in the UK and this latest move adds to our biomass heating and many other green initiatives introduced over the past few years.”
Based in Kirmington, North Lincolnshire, British Power Group makes a sustainable future an achievable and cost-effective reality for businesses. Its smart eco-charged projects have been designed to cover a whole range of financial benefits to clients, including solar PV, voltage optimisation, electric car charge units and energy brokerage, each bringing huge energy saving and cost reduction benefits, and collectively really packing a punch.
