Lincolnshire Construction & Property Network November

Monthly construction businesses networking

From sole traders to large housing associations, construction and property businesses come together to talk business at the Lincolnshire Chamber’s Construction Network.

This months Construction and Property Network is being hosting by LIVES (Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service).

This presentation explores what “safe” means in the context of first aid at work. It covers legal obligations, practical requirements, and best practices to ensure employees have appropriate support in emergencies while keeping businesses compliant and prepared.

LIVES is a Lincolnshire charity providing life-saving emergency care when it matters most. Their volunteer Community First Responders give their time to answer 999 calls in their own communities, arriving first over 70% of the time without blue lights or sirens, just dedication and skill. Alongside them, their commissioned medical teams operate across Lincolnshire, delivering advanced care where it’s needed.

Throughout the event we will hear from:

Nikki Cooke who will give us an “Introduction to LIVES”

Simon Shingler who will be advise “How does LIVES save lives in Lincolnshire? An overview of our community and volunteer approach to improving outcomes from health emergencies.”

Curtis Dorbon who will be telling us about “Safe First Aid in Your Business.”

Nikki Cooke is the Chief Executive of LIVES. Originally from New Zealand, she has lived in Lincolnshire for nearly 20 years. Nikki has a broad background in the corporate world where she worked in commercial technology roles, voluntary sector and has worked in the NHS. She is also a director of the National Centre for Rural Health and Care, and a trustee of Jubilee Park Woodhall Spa.

Simon “Sheepy” Shingler is the Head of Quality, Community and Volunteers at LIVES. Simon qualified as a paramedic in 2009 and has worked in a number of roles in the ambulance services in Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Simon joined LIVES as Clinical Governance Manager in 2020 before becoming Head of Quality, Community and Volunteers in 2023. Simon is also one of our Senior Critical Care Practitioners, responding to the sickest patients in and around the North East Lincolnshire area.

Curtis Dorbon is the Head of Education & Commissioned Delivery at LIVES. Curtis helps commercial clients raise the standards of emergency medical response through expert training, education, and consultancy. Blending frontline experience with innovative teaching, he equips teams with the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional care, protect reputations, and achieve better outcomes in high-pressure environments.

LIVES will offer the business who wins the business card draw, 6 places on an Emergency First Aid course.

As a Chamber we want to ensure our networking events support our members and wider business community to make positive connections and to grow their networks.

At our events, we strongly encourage car sharing whenever possible. This not only helps reduce traffic congestion but also minimises our environmental impact. Thank you for helping us create a more sustainable and efficient event experience.

Chamber members and non-members are all welcome, and the price of admission includes tea, coffee and a light buffet lunch.

Some membership packages include a free ticket to networking events – if you’d like to honour this and book your place, email us on events@lincs-chamber.co.uk
