Home of the UK automotive industry, the Midlands is in the vanguard of low carbon transport innovation, including battery electric vehicles and fuel cell technology. By strengthening this sector further, our region will play a major part in delivering UK Government ambitions to accelerate the shift to zero emission public, private and industrial vehicles.

We will also protect jobs in the Midlands, boost export potential and drive down our CO2 and NOx emissions.

The drive towards net zero transport will open up numerous opportunities for SMEs across the Midlands Engine. In this workshop, we will hear from companies in Road, Rail and Air about how they’re responding to the Net Zero Challenge and what this means for SMEs in the region.

Agenda:

  • Overview of the Ten Point Plan For Green Growth in the Midlands Engine – detail of the wider plan
  • Focus on the Net Zero Transport Theme – delivered by the theme lead, Mike Muldoon, Head of Business Development UK & Ireland, Alstom
