Leadenham Teahouse Re-opens After Flash Flooding

Leadenham Teahouse Re-opens After Flash Flooding

On Saturday June 2, Main Road, Leadenham flooded due to heavy rain and blocked drains.

We have never seen flooding like this before in the area

After scooping out more than 20 buckets of water over the weekend, we managed to open on the first Monday morning.

We knew that lots of people's home has been flooded in the village so it was important to be there for local residents to serve them coffee. Everywhere was still damp and we had to mask the smell with scented candles.

Forced to close early on the Monday we had a closer look and assessed the damage. After contacting our shop fitters they advised us that because we had 3 inches of flood water inside, our equipment needed testing.

The counter at the bottom began to crack as the water had made the wood swell when it started to dry.

For 4 weeks dehumidifiers ran 24/7 reducing the moisture sitting underneath our floor. Everywhere has been disinfected and a new counter installed.

We reopened on Monday 23rd July following our major deep clean. Newly painted walls, replaced skirting and with a fresh new look.

As a small rural business we have had to have resilience and bounce back quickly. It's important to us shout out that we are reopen. The Teahouse is uniquely located within the village Post Office. It's vital that we remain busy to ensure to survival of our Post Office here.

We are looking forward to welcoming back local people and customers further afield.

It was important to have a quick refurbishment and worked night and day to be re-open for Leadenham's Biggest community event on Sunday August 5th.

Leadenham Teahouse hosts the Leadenham Artisan Market in the grounds. More than 40 stalls sell their local produce, crafts and handmade products.

Live folk music is supplied from the “Lincolnshire Day of Folk” and is free entry.

We are really excited to be back open and we thank everyone for their support at what's been a really difficult time for our family business.
