Rules of Origin Relating to Non-EU Countries Workshop

As importers, we are encouraged to trade with countries which have preferential trading agreements with us, or even developing countries. The UK is planning many such deals after leaving the EU.

As exporters, we are often asked to supply specialised Certificates with our goods so that our customers can import the goods either at a reduced rate of import duty or sometimes entirely duty- free.

For both these exercises, we need to provide specialised paperwork with our goods to prove to Customs Authorities anywhere in the world that the reduced rates of tariff are fully justified.

The course explores the current Rules of Origin agreed internationally, apart from the TCA with the EU, how to establish where goods originate “officially”, and our company’s internal factors which will support these origin declarations.

Workshop programme in detail:

– What are the Rules of Origin for non-European countries
– The importance of Commodity Codes
– Preferential Origin
– Non-Preferential Origin

– The concepts of “Sufficient Working or Processing” and “wholly produced”.
– Tariff shift and value-added tests
– Required Documentation
– Internal documentation and procedures
– Approved Exporter Scheme
