Sustainability Performance Tool
We want to recognise SME's and micro-businesses for their sustainable and responsible behaviour, the aim of this tool is to specifically measure key themes focusing on environmental, social and governance impact. There are no right or wrong answers, so please select the response which best describes your current situation.
What will I need to complete this?
We have aimed to allow users to fill this self-assessment in within one sitting, a general understanding of the following will support you in completing the tool
- If and what information you collect around your environmental impact
- The types of employee support you offer including some payroll information
- How you interact with your customers and suppliers
- Formal policies and procedures you have within the business
What's involved?
The self-assessment consists of 32 questions, using government policies and regulations, white papers as well as science-based targets, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to support our framework.

Whilst we trust that you will complete this self assessment to the best of your ability, we will require some form of verification that you are meeting the standard for the Small Business Sustainability Mark, once you have completed this self-assessment a member of the Chamber team will be in contact to follow up and discuss your answers. We appreciate that small businesses are unique so please email esg@lincs-chamber.co.uk if you feel you may need a streamlined version.
This self-assessment has been created in partnership with the University of Lincoln and funded by Innovate UK and the information provided will be treated as confidential and will only be shared with individuals relevant to the service.
