Celebrities including Jason Donovan, Russell Watson, Jess Robinson and Fairport Convention have urged their fans to ‘Be a Brick’ and support Lincoln Drill Hall, which is facing a funding crisis.

Celebrities who have performed at Lincoln Drill Hall since the launch of a major fundraising campaign, have recorded videos urging people to donate to help the charity-run venue stay open and continue supporting the community.

Lincoln Drill Hall is facing a major fundraising challenge and needs to raise £130,000 each year to continue its work in the community after a series of reductions of public funding.

People and businesses are being asked to ‘Be a Brick’ and buy a brick to give the charity-run arts centre their support for £10 or £50 per year. Those who donate can leave a message on a colourful, smiling brick on a virtual wall explaining why they’re giving the Drill Hall their support.

Since the campaign launched in February, the charity has raised more than £15,000 towards its goal.

Videos supporting Lincoln Drill Hall’s ‘Be a Brick’ campaign have been recorded by:

  • Actor and musician, Jason Donovan
  • Classical singer Russell Watson
  • Britain’s Got Talent star and comedian, Jess Robinson
  • Folk rock band, Fairport Convention
  • Comedian and TV presenter, Rachel Parris
  • Singer and broadcaster Claire Teal
  • Musicians, The Blues Band
  • Elvis impersonator, Mario Kombou from The Elvis Years

Jason Donovan said:

“Lincoln Drill Hall is your arts centre but it certainly needs your help at this very important time, so I’m asking you to Be a Brick and buy a brick for just ten pounds a year to keep people like me coming to see people like you. It’s very important… We need your help, get behind it. It’s gonna be great, but we need your help.”

Classical singer, Russell Watson said:

“I know there are a lot of people that love this venue. I’ve been here on several occasions and I absolutely love it and I think it’s essential to the locality of the place. Keeping little theatres like this open is really important… Please help us out here at Lincoln Drill Hall. Be a Brick and help Lincoln Drill Hall out. Why would you want this place to close? It’s a brilliant place to perform and sing.”

Singer and broadcaster, Clare Teal who recently performed at Lincoln Drill Hall for the first time said:

“I think it’s wonderful; it’s got so much history, the people are fantastic and everybody’s looking after us, yet I’ve just found out that this fantastic venue is in danger of closing and that just can’t happen so we’re asking you to Be a Brick and buy a brick. It’s just going to cost you ten pounds and I can tell you that every penny is worth it. Please, don’t let this fantastic venue go - I want to come back!”

The Blues Band recorded a special song for the campaign which has also had the backing from Elvis Presley impersonator, Mario Kombou from The Elvis Years.
