2020 - This will be the 75th anniversary of the liberation of continental Europe from fascism and the end of the Second World War.

The International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) is a global organisation and memorial to recognise the sacrifice of the brave men and women who played a significant role in bringing an end to the second world war 75 years ago.

The subsequent rebuilding of Europe, with trade and cooperation and determination to put an end to European wars was one of the main pillars behind the formation of the “European Project”. Initially envisaged as a partnership of independent nations trading to mutual advantage with minimal borders, the European Economic Community has grown to become a superstate of 27 nations with ambitions to share a common currency, tax system and identity.

On the 23 June 2016, The United Kingdom rejected this vision of the future, voting 52% to 48% to leave the European Union in a decision that has been coined Brexit. On the 31st October 2019, unless a deal is reached with the EU, the United Kingdom will exit the EU without a formal withdrawal agreement.
