Debunking the Myths Surrounding Cyber Security and Data Protection - Robert Hay

Depending on which of the newspapers and technology press you read, or the TV and Radio news programs you listen to…. oh and don’t of course forget all the Sales representatives of different companies trying to sell you cyber security goods and services they’re all saying the same thing –

“You're Doomed” you’re all going to be hacked and go out of business and you’ll also be fined tens of millions of pounds for allowing it to happen and then you’ll go out of business!!

Well there may some small elements of truth in those narratives. But it isn’t all doom and gloom. Most of the answers you need to establish and implement a sound cyber security strategy are: a recipe of common sense, an understanding of cyber security actually is and the application of some basic risk management.

So this session, by H2 Information Risk Management Consultants, is about helping and informing you on how to go about understanding cyber security risks and how to mitigate them. Seriously, it’s not all “rocket science” and implementing massively expensive technology, as some would have you believe.
