Sleaford BID

The Sleaford BID (Business Improvement District) became operational on the 1st of October 2007 and has an initial lifespan of five years. The BID is in operation to benefit the whole of the Sleaford area as a business location, to make the area more attractive to inward investors and to help and assist the indigenous growth of our existing businesses. Local businesses identified that this should be done in three ways; improved security, marketing and promotion and car parking and traffic management. Each of these areas has a working group to take it forward, and delivery of these areas arein accordance with our business plan.

The benefits to Sleaford as a whole are tangible and this will eventually have a knock-on effect to the 670 businesses already here, either directly or indirectly through increased footfall, visitors and shoppers, new businesses and ease of town centre parking. The increased security objectives within the business plan will serve to make Sleaford a safer place to live, work, shop and eat and this in turn will create an environment where Sleaford people and visitors alike feel able to freely make use of all local facilities.

The Business Plan goes into detail about what the BID is here to achieve for Sleaford over the initial five year period, using income generated from the annual levy (just 1p in the £ on rateable value, subject to a minimum of £50) and also additional funding that may be obtained through various government projects.
