The shop with the most nominations will be entered into the competition and a reception at the House of Commons celebrating winners will take place in the coming months.

Gillian Merron said, "This is a great opportunity for us all to support our local shops. In  Lincoln we're lucky to have lots of innovative, successful and quality independent retailers, who can match the best the rest of the country have got to offer.

"It'd be great to see a business from Lincoln taking the title and I look forward to receiving nominations before the 31st January."
