Constant tinkering with employment law must stop

Labour and the Conservatives have set out their family-friendly policies today. Commenting, Dr Adam Marshall, Director of Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), said:

"In order for businesses to get on with creating jobs for mothers and fathers, the constant threat of tinkering to employment law - from both parties - must stop.

"The vast majority of UK businesses already offer flexible working, on a formal and informal basis, to both parents and grandparents.

"The next government needs to create the right regulatory environment that will encourage companies to take on more staff and drive economic recovery. The 2011 National Insurance contributions increase must be scrapped and there should be a commitment to a three year moratorium on the implementation of new employment regulation."
