Lobbying & Representation

Making your voice heard on issues that affect your business

Membership of the Lincolnshire Chamber means you can get your voice heard on issues that matter to your business. As well as access to a professional resource to improve the impact of lobbying activity in your area through our national body, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), you can influence government policy at a local, regional, national and European level.

  • Is there a business matter of particular concern or interest to you?
  • Do you wish that local and national government and other major institutions would pay more attention to the views of your business?
  • Do you want to know what is happening in Lincolnshire on issues that could influence your competitiveness?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you should become involved in the Lincolnshire Chamber's lobbying and representation activities.

Locally, most Area Chambers have active committees where members can debate and seek to influence local issues that impact on business performance.

Finally, as BCC regularly seeks members' views on national issues, we need to develop a mechanism that enables the Lincolnshire Chamber to present an accurate countywide view. Existing committee arrangements of many local Chambers provides a good base for this work and we hope to enhance this by developing additional systems for harnessing members' views from across the county.

So, how can you get involved and make your voice count?

Lobbying and representation is an evolving and reactive service, which you, our members, can help to shape. To ensure we are accurately representing your views, there are a number of ways that give you the opportunity to contribute to both local and national debates.

Nationally, one such mechanism is the BCC Quarterly Economic Survey (QES), which is posted to all members and serves as a useful barometer of the Lincolnshire economy. The survey results from all Chambers are aggregated at a national level and used to inform central Government on the state of the economy and to influence policy.

Membership of the Chamber gives you the opportunity to raise local and national issues that are important to the effectiveness of your business. The Chamber Lobbying and Representation Service will assist with the collation of your views and will provide a response to the relevant national, regional and/or local organisation on your behalf.

If you wish to be involved in influencing future key lobbying & representation issues, register your interest now by contacting your Local Area Chamber.
