Market full of Christmas Characters

Visitors to this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market should come prepared to meet all kinds of festive characters along the way – including one special visitor from Lapland.
For the first time, Father Christmas will pay a visit to the Market.  He is looking forward to hearing children’s Christmas wishes at Judges Lodgings in Castle Square.

The Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Lincoln will officially open the Christmas Market at the magnificent West Front of Lincoln Cathedral on Thursday 3rd December.  He will be joined by the Dean of the Cathedral and representatives from Lincoln’s twin town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse after Evensong, which is due to start between 6pm and 6:30pm.

A pair of elves with a talent for balloon modelling will roam around the Market area.  The mischievous characters will decorate passers by with hats, costumes and hilarious balloon toys that will get everyone laughing.

Back by popular demand, the tap dancing turkeys will be clucking their way around the Market, with a feathery combination of dance, turkey talk and shopping tips.  Market goers will be invited up to dance with a trio of elves, with smiles and good moves all round, from elf moon walking to waltzing and even break dancing!  And two lost elves will be entertaining the crowds, wandering around with their very own Rudolf the Reindeer.

For those who like festive fayre, a giant musical Christmas pudding on wheels will glide around the Christmas Market bringing surreal comedy to entertain the crowds.  Children will be able to play a festive part themselves, with face painting at Judges Lodgings.  Youngsters will delight at the Winter Wonderland at the Lawn, with rides for the under 12s, including the Snow Sleigh Swings and the Reindeer Ride.

Just a short walk away from the Market, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life will be hosting a special Victorian Christmas experience on Saturday and Sunday.

Rounding off the Christmas Market on Sunday evening, a chamber choir will perform at the Cathedral, giving visitors a memorable send off on their journey home.
