The International Trade Chamber has a unique role in helping to support and boost Lincolnshire’s trade activity, because Chambers of Commerce are currently the only organisation authorised to provide a national export certification service. We are here to help our member businesses realise all their international trade capabilities through training, documentation, specialist help and advice on worldwide exporting and importing issues.

Visit our Schools and Colleges – register to take part!
The Education and Employers Taskforce, an independent charity, is planning the first ever national campaign for business leaders to visit state schools and colleges during the week of the 18th - 22nd of October 2010. This ‘call to action’ is a chance for bosses from private, public and third sector organisations to hear first-hand from head teachers and young people ages 5 – 19 about how they can actively help shape their skills, achievement and employability.
Taking part in Visit our Schools week is free to everyone and only requires 1 or 2 hours of your time in the week of the 18th - 22nd of October to visit a school/college in your locality. For further details and to register to take part, please click here.
Register for the Carbon Reduction Commitment or face fines!
The Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) has set a deadline for businesses to register for the emission cutting scheme – Carbon Reduction Commitment. All businesses with a half hourly energy metre will be required to sign up to the scheme, regardless of whether they use the required energy spend (currently set at 6,000MW per annum or roughly £500,000).
With some businesses unaware of the need to register, the British Chamber of Commerce is concerned that many businesses may find themselves liable for fines which could amount to £45,000.
Please click here to refer to the Environment Agency’s Q&A on eligibility to see if your company needs to sign up.

Successful Chamber Annual Summer BBQ
On 12th August 2010 the Lincolnshire Chamber Annual Summer BBQ took place at Branston Hall Hotel, and for the 6th year running the event was sponsored by Nicholsons Chartered Accountants.
Over 60 delegates attended on the day and were greeted with arrival drinks and delegate packs. During the course of the event delegates were able to enjoy networking outside on the lovely patio area overlooking the lakes and gardens of the venue. A short presentation was given by Richard Grayson, who updated delegates on the wide range of products and services on offer, before a BBQ of chicken, sausages, Chinese style ribs and salad was served.
Nicholsons also offered guests the opportunity to participate in a short quiz, with the winning delegate receiving 12 branded bottles of beer supplied by fellow members, Systematic Print Management Ltd.
Our business card draw winner was Michael Armstrong of Lincoln BIG, who gave a 2 minute speech surrounding the City Beach currently located in Lincoln city centre, and encouraged attendees to go and have a look for themselves.
