Access Innovation Programme

 

The Lincolnshire Chamber is a partner in the Access Innovation programme run through the Business School at the University of Lincoln. Access Innovation links SMEs who have specific projects that need undertaking with students or graduates who have the appropriate skill set to help.

 

Students are shortly due back for the start of a new academic year and many will be looking for live projects in organisations as part of their course of study. Also, many students are on the look out for experiences that can enhance their CVs, so your company may be able to benefit from this by contacting Access Innovation to discuss your thoughts and ideas. 

 

We expect to have a surge of students within the next few weeks that need to find live projects in businesses in the following areas: 

  • Web design and implementation
  • E-commerce
  • Marketing
  • Advertising
  • PR
  • Media
  • Design

This is not an exhaustive list of course, so if you are interested in having a student do a project for your company, work part time for your company in either a paid or placement capacity, or maybe even consider taking on a year-out student, staff at Access Innovation would be delighted to hear from you for an informal discussion.

The Family Services Directory

 

This new on line resource, live on the 14th of September, aims to support parents and carers, and those working with families in Lincolnshire to access information, advise and support. The Directory has been developed in consultation with parents, carers, practitioners and providers. The FSD can help with advise and support around parenting and childcare, plus on the Home Page there is an Events and Activities diary, so you can see at a glance what’s happening in Lincolnshire for families to access. Practitioners can also benefit from the Directory with their own information page, with a specific page also, for our Partners and Providers. Guidance on the Employment of Children

 

The Department for Children Schools and Families has recently re-issued guidance on the regulations that relate to school children who are employed in part time work. This is not new law, but new guidance only on existing laws. Please click here for more information.

Free Planning Events

 

The regional plan for the East Midlands is being reviewed, and you can go along and have your say. Find out how to understand the planning system, have your say and understand the options being put forward by the Regional Assembly, and influence local and regional planning documents. Request for Information on Flexible Working

 

The British Chambers of Commerce has been asked to submit evidence to an inquiry regarding the burden of flexible working and equality legislation on SMEs. It would be really useful for them to have some case studies in the following areas: 

  • Businesses that implement flexible working effectively;
  • Businesses that struggle to implement the ‘right to request’ regulation; and
  • Businesses that have a number of high skilled, or high level jobs, that are worked on a part time basis.

The Oasis Project

 

The Oasis Project is a county wide charity offering support for the families and carers of substance misusers - they are a small charity in size but have a large heart. Their HQ is in Mint Lane in the centre of our beautiful city of Lincoln. Chrissie Chapman is new to the county and new to her post as Oasis Project Manager, and she is thoroughly enjoying both. Their only fundraising event for 2009 will be on Saturday the 10th of October at 10.00am - 10/10 at 10.00am.
 
They shall be meeting at the North Shore Hotel in Skegness from where they will adjourn to the beach and at around 11.00am, they will release balloons up and away as dedications to those they love, whether as a memorial or as wishes and dreams. The cost is just £3.50 per dedication or 3 balloons for £10.00, which can be purchased in advance or on the day. For more information, please contact Allison Carroll on 07932 311867 or Linda Bradley of Oasis 07887 621585. Please join them.

 


 

Warning: Lincolnshire Businesses Receiving Bogus Invoices.

 

Please be on alert that a number of bogus companies are sending letters and invoices to the owners of trade marks, patents and designs. The letters are cleverly designed to look as though they have come from an official organisation and are often presented in the form of an invoice requesting payment for publication or registration fees for Registers that do not exist.
