On Tuesday 29 September, the East Midlands STEM Partnership and Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd, based in Lincoln, have been invited to speak at the national conference STEM Careers - Supporting Employer Gatekeepers and Enablers. More than fifty delegates will meet at the Royal Society in London to develop an action plan to encourage employers to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. The British Chambers of Commerce, and its partners, will be launching National Identity Theft week on Monday to highlight this growing crime and its negative impact upon businesses. Government figures estimate that the cost of identity theft is already over £1 billion. As part of this launch the BCC will be sending out leaflets and a poster to all chambers, highlighting some simple measures that businesses can take to limit their exposure to identity theft. You are invited to attend a presentation on the economy at the University of Lincoln on Wednesday 25th of November 2009. The event will commence at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. Refreshments are available. Following the presentation there will be an open discussion and the event will finish by 7.30pm. Dr. Adam Posen, a recently appointed member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, will be giving the presentation.
