Procurement - Meet the Buyer Event 2010

The Training in Public Procurement’s free ‘Meet the Buyer 2010’ event took place at The University of Lincoln’s Riseholme Campus on Thursday June 10th, attracting over 150 businesses. The event, split into two repeated half day sessions, provided local businesses with a unique opportunity to meet and network with Lincolnshire’s major public sector buyers responsible for spending c.£750m on goods and services every year. Today the Bank of England is issuing the monthly summary of business conditions in the United Kingdom, as reported by the Bank's Agents, and has noted a significant increase in businesses' raw material costs. Please click here to see more.

Delta-Simons Give it a Tri

 

One of the UK’s leading environmental consultants, Delta-Simons, is taking part in next month’s King Sturge Property triathlon, raising money for The Children’s Trust and Orchid.

 

Environmental experts Alex Ferguson, James Harris and Alan Crossfield will be competing against 308 other relay teams at the charity event being held at Eton on July 9th, co-sponsored by Property Week. The race includes a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run around Dorney Lake at Eton.

 

Delta-Simons is raising money for the official event charities through the 1760 Appeal. The Children’s Charity is the UK’s leading centre for children with multiple disabilities and in particular, children with acquired brain injury, and Orchid is the only UK charity to focus entirely on the three uniquely male cancers; prostate, penile and testicular cancer and has been running since 1996.

 

Alex Ferguson, Director at Delta-Simons is looking forward to competing in the event, “As well as helping us all get in shape for the summer, the Triathlon is an extremely worthwhile event bringing property professionals together and supporting two great charities. This is the first year we have competed and we are all really looking forward to it, I just need to keep up my training to be able to squeeze into my wet suit on the day.”

Government Consultation on non-EU Migrant Cap

 

An announcement made by the Government yesterday referred to a consultation on a cap on the number of non-EU migrants that enter the UK. It is crucial that the British Chamber of Commerce receives examples from businesses in different sectors and regions to understand how this may affect them.

Transformational ICT Workshop is a Winner in Lincoln

 

Transformational ICT is part of the Government's Solutions for Business portfolio of business support and is designed to help businesses to exploit advanced Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) to transform their business processes. 

 

The free ‘Planning an e-mail marketing campaign’ workshop delivered by Transformational ICT on the 18th June 2010 at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce was fully booked and the feedback was excellent. The workshop covered all aspects of planning, designing, running and measuring an e-mail marketing campaign and also introduced low cost tools and methods to help businesses get started. Business delegates left the workshop with an action plan that allowed them to manage their first campaign.

  • The responsibilities of a First Aider
  • First Aid legislation
  • Possible risks of injury or common diseases in the workplace environment
  • Contents of a first aid box
  • Management of an emergency
  • Dealing with all first aid emergencies such as bleeding, shock, unconsciousness, choking, breathing difficulties, chest pain, circulation problems, fractures, burns and scalds, eye injury, bleeding, poisoning or any other possible first aid emergency specifically related to a particular working environment.
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (This is assessed during the day course.)
